Gas Fees

As of the 7th January 2022, Black Eye Galaxy operates purely on-chain. As a result of this, there is a necessity for gas fees to be constantly paid by the players using BNB.

Gas fees are necessary to conduct operations on the Binance Smart Chain, and operating on-chain through the use of Chainlink's VRF technology ensures that all entropy-based gameplay scenarios such as minting NFTs or combat will always be provably fair.

Players are always required to hold an amount of BNB in your MetaMask wallet to ensure the capability of conducting transactions and interacting with the Black Eye Galaxy smart contracts.

The gas fees usually cost around 0.0008 to 0.0030 BNB depending on the transaction, however certain transactions can be higher such as claiming mining rewards from planets.

Example Fee for “Ending Flight” of a spaceship

Current gameplay requires players to hold a decent amount of BNB to be used for gas fees. How much BNB players holds is also significantly impacted by how many assets the player holds, as more assets will cost more in gas fees compared to owning a single asset.

The current recommended amount of BNB is 0.1 BNB that could sustain a player for quite some time. This number is different depending on how many assets you own and which assets you own.

Our Movement to Off-Chain Logic

With the highest priority, the Black Eye Galaxy team is currently working on moving all asset interactions off-chain, removing a large percentage of on-chain transactions. Some on-chain transactions will remain, such as minting ships or claiming rewards or purchasing mining permits – anything that is absolutely necessary. This will save players hundreds of dollars or BNB throughout the lifetime of their gameplay or capacity (lifetime capacity) of their assets.
