Overview

Total Units Circulating: 9,667 Release date: 16th September 2021 Standard Minting Price: 1,400 BYG Economic Model: Non-Oracle + Mining Decay System

The MK1 Asteroid Hunter is an asteroid discovery and mining NFT spaceship in Black Eye Galaxy. The purpose of this ship is to explore the galaxy while locating and mining asteroids. Despite being officially sold out and manufacturing of this unit halted, the MK1 Asteroid Hunter can still be found in small numbers for sale on the player to the player marketplace as resale assets. The MK1 Asteroid Hunter is a medium-size asteroid discovery spaceship with a medium flight range and an advanced radar system to locate asteroids across the galaxy. The MK1 Asteroid Hunter offers a maximum of 600% net annual percentage yield (APR) and average 1.5 months return on investment (ROI) when sold at a base cost of 1,400 BYG, this may differ when bought for a higher price from the player marketplace. The design of the asteroid hunter is utilitarian. It has an armoured hull covering its armoured core to protect against dangers throughout the mining operation. This also protects against outer space asteroid collisions and other dangerous manoeuvring operations during the extraction of resources in the mining process. The extraction of resources currently results in the collection of the BYG token. Before players are able to start mining asteroids, players must first purchase a mining permit - this secures the rights to mine that specific asteroid. Mining permits cost a small amount of BYG (20 BYG) and this is based on a non-oracle price since the MK1 Asteroid Hunter is a non-oracle asset. The asteroid hunter features an asteroid radar system that allows the player to scan their proximity to discover nearby asteroids within a 5-parsec radius, 1 parsec is equivalent to one square on the asteroid radar system. The asteroid hunter also features a 25-parsec flight range, enabling owners to travel medium distances to discover new asteroids around the galaxy in different star systems. Players will commonly use the flight system on the star map when travelling to another star system in the galaxy. Most players usually find a substantial supply of asteroids in their given location.

MK1 Asteroid Hunter Swap Options

Links for options 3 & 4 as referenced in the images above:

Both of these swap options are available to enter from 31/01/22 12:00PM UTC - 28/02/22 12:00PM UTC. After this date and time, this swap option will not be available.

*To participate in any of the options provided to players, players must have their MK1 Asteroid Hunters in idle mode. Players cannot unstake their MK1 AH once staked*

By the end of the February month in 2022, all swap options will have closed for the MK1 Asteroid Hunter. If players have not picked any options, or players have picked option 2, players will keep their MK1 Asteroid Hunters and they can continue to mine asteroids. A 7,000 BYG capacity and mining efficiency decay system will be applied to the MK1 Asteroid Hunter on 14/02/22 15:00 PM UTC. This could take approximately 1-year to mine the total 7,000 BYG capacity applied. Once this capacity has been reached, players can recycle their MK1 Asteroid Hunter at the salvage depot for 160 BYG.

Economic Earning Model

The prices illustrated on this page are set out in BYG and are not related or valued against a dollar value. Non-oracle model is used for the MK1 Asteroid Hunter. Price and rewards are explained using the BYG token.

A mining efficiency decay system (currently in development) will also be applied to the current MK1 Asteroid Hunter's. This system will ensure players earn their 100% ROI (upon introduction of the new 7K capacity system) faster than before which re-risks players investments in assets. Likewise, after the 100% ROI has been made, the efficiency of APR will gradually reduce slowly as the player earns more (fills up their capacity on their spaceship). Without some kind of earning efficiency penalty, the inflow of funds has to exponentially grow to offset the outflow of funds. With this new model, we will see a steady decline of sell pressure over the lifetime of an asset while maintaining an appealing APR for players.

Types of Asteroids

When the player purchases the MK1 Asteroid Hunter, the player will need to use the Asteroid Radar to locate asteroids. There are currently five types of asteroids in Black Eye Galaxy that can be found using the asteroid radar. These include common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary – which follows the standard rarity classification system across Black Eye Galaxy. The rarer the asteroid, the more resources it will have. The table below outlines the different types of asteroids and their average rewards which are not attached to the oracle system:

Type of Asteroid
Average BYG Reward

Common:

130 BYG

Uncommon:

150 BYG

Rare:

190 BYG

Epic:

220 BYG

Legendary:

440 BYG

Operational Costs

Fuel

Fuel costs 2 BYG per parsec/day in flight. Example: 3 days of flight would cost 6 BYG for the player.

Players can also use the warp drive to warp instantly salvage across the galaxy. Players can warp up to 5-parsecs. The costs for this are detailed below.

Number of Parsecs
Cost in BYG to use Warp Drive

1-Parsecs

30.75 BYG

2-Parsecs

53.8 BYG

3-Parsecs

71.1 BYG

4-Parsecs

84 BYG

5-Parsecs

93.8 BYG

100% of fuel costs for spaceships go towards in-game reward pools.

Repairs

Repairs cost players 1 BYG per percentage of damage inflicted to the MK1 Asteroid Hunter. Repairs take 1 hour per percentage of damage taken.

Example: 70% damage would cost 7 BYG would take 70 hours to fully repair.

The following damage applies:

  • 0.5% damage per day while mining asteroids

  • 1% damage per day while in flight

Once the asteroid hunter reaches 70% damage, the player will no longer be able to use the asteroid radar system or mine asteroids. However, you are still able to fly across the galaxy in search of a repair station – which are located in nearly every star system. Players will need to repair their spaceship below 70% damage in order to continue mining.

Once the MK1 Asteroid Hunter has filled its 7,000 BYG capacity, players can send their MK1 Asteroid Hunters to a salvage depot to recycle their spaceship for a 160 BYG return.

99% of repair costs go towards the repair station owner.

DAO Tax is a 1% tax that is taken off rewards received and is sent to the Black Eye Galaxy Treasury. The DAO tax is applicable to planet rewards and repair stations.

Mining Permit

Mining permits cost 20 BYG each. The player will need to pay this for each asteroid that is mined. By purchasing a mining permit it secures the player's rights to mining the asteroid.

Gas Fees

Players will have to pay BNB for gas fees or transactions when interacting with the spaceship. Players should keep some BNB in their wallets to pay for these small transactions. The implementation of off-chain transactions, expected middle/end of March, would remove many transaction costs for players, saving players from spending as much BNB when managing their MK1 Asteroid Hunter asset.

This 7,000 BYG capacity is automatically applied to MK1 Asteroid Hunters without any player interaction once option 1 "Stake MK1 Asteroid Hunter for MK2 Asteroid Hunter Swap" has ended. Players have until 14/02/22 15:00 PM UTC to stake their MK1 Asteroid Hunter. Players will receive the MK2 Asteroid Hunter once the swap has been approved by the team upon better (undefined) market conditions. Learn more about the MK2 Asteroid Hunter by
