Overview

Release schedule: 500 units per week (controlled by the team, changes depend on market conditions & BYG price). Units Available: Redacted Release date: February Minting Price: 5,400 BYG Economic model: Non-oracle + mining efficiency decay + dynamic apr multiplier

The MK2 Asteroid Hunter is an asteroid discovery and mining NFT spaceship in Black Eye Galaxy. The purpose of this spaceship is that players can explore the galaxy by locating and mining asteroids using the MK1 asteroid radar. Players can sell resources collected from the MK2 Asteroid Hunter for the BYG token The asteroid hunter features an asteroid radar system that allows the player to scan their proximity to discover nearby asteroids within a 5-parsec radius, 1 parsec is equivalent to one square on the asteroid radar system. Aside from normal flight where players will have to wait to travel to an asteroid, MK2 Asteroid Hunter owners can also use the warp drive function. This is where players can pay a small fee in BYG to warp instantly between and to asteroids. You can find more information regarding fuel, repairs, and warp drive by .

The asteroid hunter also features a 25-parsec flight range, enabling owners to travel medium distances to discover new asteroids around the galaxy in different star systems. Players will commonly use the flight system on the star map when travelling to another star system in the galaxy. Most players usually find a substantial supply of asteroids in their given location. The MK2 Asteroid Hunter is a follow-up manufactured unit from the MK1 Asteroid Hunter with different earning and pricing mechanics/logic. When released onto the marketplace for minting (at 5,400 BYG price), players will mint and receive 1 of 5 rarities based on a probability model. These rarities include: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. The rarity of the spaceship rewarded to the player dictates its lifetime for the spaceship, which cannot be changed.

The higher the rarity a player receives, the higher the mining capacity and increased multiplier in rewards. The MK2 Asteroid Hunter will be the first NFT asset in Black Eye Galaxy that will adopt an off-chain transaction fee logic. This means that players will not have to pay high gas fees through a high number of transactions while interacting with smart contracts. Instead, players will pay one transaction fee to purchase the spaceship. This will remove hundreds of transaction/gas fees for players across the lifetime operation/management of their spaceship. Similar to the Salvage Team NFT spaceship, the MK2 Asteroid Hunter will have a limited lifetime, which is dictated through the initial minting probability process. Once players have earned the APR for the spaceship, the spaceship will not be able to mine further and can only be sent to a salvage depot to be scrapped down for 416 BYG.

Once the capacity has been filled completely, the player can recycle their spaceship at a salvage depot and receive 416 BYG.

Types of Asteroids

When the player purchases the MK2 Asteroid Hunter, the player will need to use the Asteroid Radar to locate asteroids. There are currently five types of asteroids in Black Eye Galaxy, these include common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary – which follows the standard rarity classification system across Black Eye Galaxy. The rarer the asteroid, the more resources it will have. If players find rarer asteroids, then they can earn a higher APR, reaching their mining capacity much quicker. Likewise, the rewards from asteroids are also implicated by the rarity of the player's MK2 Asteroid Hunter – this is due to how rarer MK2s have a multiplier for each type of asteroid.

The table below outlines the different types of asteroids and their average reward range depending on the rarity of the MK2 Asteroid Hunter:

The multiplier, as shown above, is applied based on the rarity of the MK2 Asteroid Hunter. Rarer MK2 Asteroid Hunters will have a higher multiplier that rewards players with increased BYG from asteroids.

The following table outlines the time to mine asteroids depending on the rarity of the MK2 Asteroid Hunter:

Operational Costs

Fuel

Standard Fuel costs 11 BYG per parsec/day of flight/travel. Example: 3 days of flight would cost the player 33 BYG.

Warp drive costs vary depending on the type of MK2 Asteroid Hunter. See table below for cost layout.

Repair

Repairs cost 6 BYG per percentage of the damage inflicted to the MK2 Asteroid Hunter.

Example: 50% of damage would cost 300 BYG.

The following damage applies:

  • 0.5% damage per day while mining asteroids

  • 1% damage per parsec/day while in flight

Repair time can take 1 hour per percentage of damage to the spaceship.

Example: 50% damage would take 50 hours to repair.

Once the MK2 Asteroid Hunter reaches 70% damage, the player will no longer be able to use the asteroid radar or mine asteroids. However, players will be able to fly across the galaxy in search of a repair station – which are located in nearly every star system. Players will need to repair their spaceship below 70% damage in order to continue mining asteroids.

99% of repair costs go towards the repair station owner.

DAO Tax is a 1% tax that is taken off rewards received and is sent to the Black Eye Galaxy Treasury. The DAO tax is applicable to planet rewards and repair stations.

Mining Permit

Before players can start mining asteroids, they must purchase a mining permit per asteroid. secures the rights to mine that specific asteroid. Mining permits cost a small amount, and this is paid in BYG. Mining permits cost varies depending on the rarity of the MK2 Asteroid Hunter - this is because each MK2 Asteroid Hunter have different levels of capacity and increased rewards.

The following table outlines the costs for mining permits for each rarity of MK2 Asteroid Hunter:

Gas Fees

The MK2 Asteroid Hunter features completely off-chain transactions for almost all interactions with the spaceship. This means players can save BNB on gas fees and transactions. Players must be aware that they will need BNB to cover transactions that claim tokens when interacting with their wallet - this is still a requirement.

Economic Earning Model

The prices illustrated on this page are set out in BYG and are not related or valued against a dollar value. Non-oracle model is used for the MK2 Asteroid Hunter. Price and rewards are explained using the BYG token.

In regards to control over rewards, this primarily involves the use of multipliers on in-game mechanics. While 1 tonne = 16 BYG will not change. Rewards distribution can be controlled using multipliers (use of dynamic apr multipliers the team have referenced before) on in-game mechanics such as fuel and asteroid spawn. This allows the team to apply and control rewards distribution according to the market conditions. If BYG price were to increase to unsustainble levels according to the 1 tonne = 16 BYG logic, then the team can control rewards by increasing fuel cost or decreasing asteroid spawns to balance rewards. The team can also stop the minting of any new assets and release a reiteration of a newer asteroid hunter with prices reflected to existing market conditions by lowering the price of a new asteroid hunter asset (MK3) and lowering the BYG value per 1 tonne - emphasising flexible control over assets and rewards across upwards and downwards market trends. Control and use of multipliers would ensure the stability of the project and this type of multiplier use is quite popular in a range of projects such as Star Atlas. Eventually, the decisions to control fuel price and asteroid spawn would be given to a DAO if implemented.

A mining efficiency decay system has been applied to the MK2 Asteroid Hunter. This system will ensure players earn the base value of the asset back quicker which could re-risk players investments in assets. Likewise, after the initial investment in BYG has been made for the player, the efficiency of APR will gradually reduce slowly as the player earns more (fills up their capacity on their spaceship) and this is impacted based on how long players take to mine asteroids (as seen in the table below). Without some kind of earning efficiency penalty, the inflow of funds has to exponentially grow to offset the outflow of funds. With this new model, we will see a steady decline of sell pressure over the lifetime of the asset while maintaining an appealing APR for players.

More Reiterations of the Asteroid Hunter to come

The team will stop the minting of the MK2 Asteroid Hunter when the team feels it is necessary to release a new iteration of the asteroid hunter NFT spaceship. This will occur at pre-determined price points.

For instance, say the price of BYG grows to $0.20, a new MK3 Asteroid Hunter would have to be released with adjusted values. This is to ensure players can buy the asteroid hunter for 5,400 BYG without the cost of the asteroid hunter increasing to unreasonable prices.

For example, price of MK2 Asteroid Hunter at different price level:

5,400 BYG at $0.04 = $216 cost ✅

5,400 at $0.20 = $1,080 cost ❎

The ability to release a new iteration of the asteroid hunter means that the team can provide a stable price for an asset over the duration and development of the project - which benefits the players significantly. The reward and all other mechanics would be transferred over to match the increased price of BYG. The team will inform the community when a reiteration is looming.

The reiteration of an asset depending on BYG price or market conditions allows the team to release a new iteration of the asteroid hunter to the marketplace for minting with a refined logic that is adapted so that rewards are lowered as market conditions improve for the project, this ensures rewards are not distributed too highly. For example, the BYG value of a tonne (1 tonne) will be lowered to ensure the player does not receive extremely high rewards that would place the project in economic jeopardy. The team can control the number of MK2 Asteroid Hunters that are released to the marketplace on a weekly basis which allows us to control the output and interactions of ships.

BYG Credit System

With the introduction of off-chain transactions, an off-chain currency system was developed to pay for fuel, repairs, and the mining permit off-chain using an in-game payment system. This in-game payment system is known as the BYG credit system.

An overview of a players BYG Credits can be found in players "My Assets" (see photo below).

Here players can see their BYG Credits balance. BYG Credits can be deposited by clicking the "Deposit" button and entering the number of BYG they wish to deposit in credits - this works on a 1-1 system (10 BYG = 10 BYG Credits). Players will need credits to pay for fuel, repairs, and mining permits. Players are also rewarded in BYG Credits from their MK2 Asteroid Hunter Asset. All rewards are automatically deposited into the player's profile without the need to claim and cancel the mining process. Importantly, players can also click the "Withdraw" button to exchange their BYG Credits for the $BYG token.

In addition, players can also find more information on their BYG Credits by clicking the "In-Game Wallet" button.

By clicking the "In-Game Wallet" button in My Assets, players can find information on their recent transactions. Because all interactions with the MK2 Asteroid Hunter are mostly off-chain, transactions using the BYG Credits are not recorded on the BSC network due to not paying any gas/transaction fees. The Black Eye Galaxy team have created a way for players to keep track of their BYG Credits transactions.

In the image above you will see incoming and outgoing transactions for flight costs, rewards from mining, and the purchase of the asteroid permit. Players can also deposit and withdraw (exchange) BYG credits on this screen as well as on the "My Assets" page.

How to purchase the MK2 Asteroid Hunter?

The MK2 Asteroid Hunter releases onto the marketplace for minting on the 21st of February 2022 at 13:00 PM UTC. 500 of these NFTs will release onto the marketplace on a first come first serve basis. 500 of these NFTs are expected to release per week for an undisclosed time.

The mint price for this asset will be 5,400 BYG.

This NFT asset will release onto the Black Eye Galaxy marketplace on 21/02/22 at 13:00 UTC.

Players can purchase the MK2 Asteroid Hunter by clicking the "Buy" button at the top of the page under the MK2 Asteroid Hunter asset. This will mint an MK2 Asteroid Hunter for the player. As soon as the player purchases the MK2 Asteroid Hunter (and doing so "mints" the asset") the player can find the MK2 Asteroid Hunter in "My Assets".

How to use the MK2 Asteroid Hunter?

Step 1: Locate your asset in "My Assets" and make sure you have BYG Credits deposited. It is advised to deposit at least 100 BYG Credits to get started.

Step 2: Click "Activate for Game" to activate your MK2 Asteroid Hunter. This enables the player to use the asset and is necessary due to it being an off-chain NFT asset.

Step 3: Once activated, click on the "Asteroid Radar" button to open up the MK2 asteroid radar. This enables the player to locate, select and send off their MK2 Asteroid Hunter NFT spaceship to an asteroid, and then begin mining after the purchase of the mining permit.

Step 4: Once the asteroid radar has opened on the webpage, the player can start interacting with the radar map and locate asteroids. Players can click on the asteroid icons which will bring up a few options for the player. The image below displays these options. To find out the rarity of the asteroid, the player will need to click on the "Details" button.

Asteroids, like many other assets and salvage, come in a rarity system. The higher the rarity the more resources can be found in the asteroid. Players can find common, uncommon, rare, epic and legendary asteroids. When clicking on the "Details" button this will open a new page that will show the rarity of the asteroid.

Step 5: Make sure to consider the rarity of the asteroid and also how long it will take to travel to that asteroid. Players can find out how long it will take by looking inside the brackets next to the "Send Here" button, as shown in the photo below.

Step 6: Once the player has decided on which asteroid to fly to, the player can click the "Send Here" button. This will charge the player 11 BYG Credits per day of the flight.

Step 7: The player can now follow the progress of the flight on the MK2 asset's page. As seen as an example below. Players are provided with a timer and progress bar.

Step 8: Once the timer has ended, or the timer is on 0:00:00, the player can click the "End Flight" button.

Step 9: Now the player can click the "Buy Permit & Start Mining" button. This will start the mining of the asteroid with the MK2 Asteroid Hunter and pay the mining permit.

The MK2 Asteroid Hunter will now mine the asteroid, once it has finished mining the asteroid it will automatically deposit rewards into the player profile as BYG Credits. The player can restart the process and start mining another asteroid.
